Outlook 365 Calendar Mac Manual

Best Effort Support Only

This document contains instructions on using a non-Microsoft email client, such as Apple Mail or Thunderbird. Microsoft does not recommend these clients for use with Office 365, and there are often significant limitations in client functionality as a result.

Because of this, the DoIT Help Desk is only able to offer best effort support for these clients, and certain issues may require the use of a Microsoft client in order to be resolved. For more information on Office 365 client support, please see: Office 365 - Which clients/protocols will be supported?.

This page provides links to documentation on how to configure your email client to access Office 365. You can set your email client to access your Office 365 account using either Exchange or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) settings.

Exchange Versus IMAP

Calendar sharing in Office 365. If the user views the shared calendar on Outlook for Mac, they'll see the new sync experience if the calendar was added.

There are several advantages to setting up your email client to use Exchange rather than IMAP settings. Exchange only requires that you provide your email address and password for set up; IMAP, however, requires additional server information. Exchange also provides direct access to the USC calendar that is a part of your Office 365 account.

At this time, ITS supports both methods of setting up your account.
